• Guys,

I had a template called Rubric on my WP 1.2 site. I hacked it a bit to work for me (adding css to show Amazon links within posts etc.).

On upgrading to WP 1.5, I followed the very straightforward upgrading old WordPress templates instructions and suddenly I had Rubric in WP 1.5.

I have since changed my theme but have a theme switcher on the site so people can view it in the theme of their choice.

A couple of people have asked me for the code for Rubric and I have obliged.

I wonder now, would other people be interested in having Rubric on 1.5? You can see it here. Be warned, I am not a coder so any modifications I have made are quick and dirty.

    Tom

    avonderluft,

no problem, I have put a zipped copy of the theme at https://www.tomandpilar.net/tom/rubric.zip

Do let me know how you get on with it,

    Cheers,

    Hi Tom,

That zip file appears to be corrupted. I’ve downloaded it to a mac and a pc and get the same internal error trying to unzip it on both machines. Could you possibly check it out and repost it? Thanks!

    Gregg,

I deleted the remote file and uploaded a copy which I successfully tested before uploading.

    Apologies for any inconvenience.

    Thanks James,

I spotted the link when I saw a bump in my traffic in BAStats.

    Hi Tom,

I just tried to DL it from https://www.tomandpilar.net/tom/rubic.zip and got the same error message on both the pc and the mac when trying to unzip. Is it possible that it’s getting corrupted on the upload? Or maybe even the DL? Could I trouble you to email it to me? [email protected]. Thanks!

    Gregg,

I have mailed that to you.

Hopefully it is a DL problem, I haven’t had anyone else mention that they are having problems with it. If I do hear any more reports, I’ll try to upload it with another ftp client.

    Cheers,

    Tom

    Thanks Tom!

    That did the trick.

Tom, there is a typo in your above link “rubic.zip” should be “rubric.zip”.

Also, I too am getting CRC errors from all the files in rubric.zip. I’ve tried unzipping using different programs and even tried repairing the archive, no luck.

I think the file on the server may be corrupt.

    D’oh!

sorry about getting that wrong. I have deleted the remote file and uploaded a new copy using a different ftp app.

Also, I have put a copy up called rubic.zip in case someone tries that.

Let me know how you get on – and again, if anyone wants me to email it directly, no problem – email me at tom at my domain name

    Help:

I keep getting the following error:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function bloginfo() in /export/home/jebern87/public_html/wordpress/index.php on line 6

To get back to your initial question Tom. I definitively would appreciate a perfected Rubric version for WP 1.5. I think it’s a great theme.
Thanks a lot for working on it!
I was able to install it and after you changed some code it displays almost like my previous Rubric blog.
There is one thing I’d appreciate to be fixed (and I’m not sure if it is a problem with other people’s installs) and that is how the wp-admin/themes.php page is showing the Rubric template plugin. I had a whole page of code there, instead just the installed themes listed. Looked very messy.
I removed all code above the ‘/* Whole page’ on the style.css page and now the code is gone, but of course the theme shows as not linked, with no author/description input. I can activate/deactivate however. So it’s probably a minor code error as where the page links to. Not a bid deal, but maybe it’s fixable. ??

Additionally I would like to change the size or boldness of the Blogroll and Categories line to the same size as the the Search/Archive etc. lines.
And maybe add ‘Most Recent Posts’ in the sidebar.
I might find out how to do this myself, just need to study the subject a bit more. ??
