I have a couple of errors (new WordPress person here, this is my first attempt at building/managing) that I’m not sure how to troubleshoot.

    Errors:
    Update failed: -1
Update failed: Briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance. Check back in a minute.

I was trying to edit my website, through the Elementor plugin, it had an update when I tried to update, but it gave those errors and now I am unable to edit or advance changes on my website. While in Elementor, I did get this error: Server Error (500 Internal Server Error). I reached out to Domain.com (my domain provider) but I’m not sure the issue is on their end.

maybe during the update process a file got stuck. “Update failed: Briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance. Check back in a minute.”

*if you have not made a recent backup copy of your website (files and database) – please do that.*

    • find the files related to your website in your webhosting account (sometimes in an area cPanel)
    • look for a file that is named like this .maintenance and delete the file.
    • if you are not sure how to find the files, please contact your webhost’s support team for guidance.

if the issue is directly related to Elementor plugin, you can deactivate the plugin by temporarily renaming it’s folder. plugin folders are in your webhosting account (sometimes in an area cPanel). for assistance with Elementor plugin operation request guidance from the team most familiar: https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/elementor/

Thanks @contentiskey, that seemed to help get me back on topic.

    Solution:

This issue is being caused by a bug in the Starter Templates plugin that has now been fixed.

If your site is stuck in maintenance mode, you can fix that by deleting the “.maintenance” file in your main WordPress directory (probably /public_html)

To update to the fixed version of the plugin:

    1. Deactivate the Starter Templates plugin (since it’s breaking the updater)
    2. Update the Starter Templates plugin to 3.1.26 or higher
    3. Reactivate the Starter Templates plugin
