Update problems

I just went to my dashboard and found a notice that my data base was out of date and needed an update, I clicked the buttons provided and I only needed one item which was updated but now I still get the message that I need an update when I go to my dashboard. What happened? Is there a problem with the update?

I have no idea what version I’ve got because i can’t get past my dashboard, it’s a loop telling me to please upgrade my database, be patient and finally “There’s actually only one step. So if you see this, you’re done. Have fun!”. The “Have fun is a link that brings me back to the “Your database is out-of-date. Please upgrade.”
