• Good Day,

NGINX 1.26 (Stable) was released on April 23, 2024. NGINX 1.26 (Stable) supports HTTP/3 (QUIC).

Based on SiteGround’s blog, when can we expect to see SiteGround’s servers and/or Speed Optimizer incorporate HTTP/3 (QUIC)?

    According to SiteGround’s blog update::

Once the HTTP/3 support for NGINX reaches a stable version, we will apply it immediately and publish a new blog post with more details on it!

Today, is May 14, 2024. Our interpretation of “apply it immediately” means it should be available now to all SiteGround customers. Unfortunately, it’s not. We used this amazing tool check our site’s HTTP/3 (QUIC) status.

We would appreciate SiteGround applying and releasing HTTP/3 (QUIC) immediately.

    Thank you!

    Hello @generosus ,

Thank you for bringing this up. I understand that you and many other customers are eagerly waiting for QUIC to be implemented in our infrastructure. Please, note that QUIC is only an alternative of our current implementation of the TCP+TLS+HTTP/2 stack and this combination of protocols is currently already providing topmost performance and security on our servers. So, QUIC is only a next step but not an explicit necessity for the speed and security of any website.

Our Operations and QA teams are still working on the improved implementation and testing of the protocol on our servers. We will announce its implementation with a blog post.

    Thank you for your understanding.

    Hi @plamenm,

Thank you for the prompt response!

Looking forward to the release. Can you provide an estimated release date for HTTP/3 (QUIC)? Your blog says “immediately.”

Please do not close this topic as “Resolved” until HTTP/3 (QUIC) has been released. It helps us keep track of SiteGround’s status.

    Thank you!

We can not provide and ETA for the final implementation. Yes, we stand by “immediately” – immediately after the tests for a flawless implementation of the final stable release within our systems finish.

Stand by for a blog post announcement.

    Hi @plamenm,

Understood. Your blog does not state that, but thanks for the clarification.

Here ya go: Definition of Immediately (official)

I fully understand your point, but the dictionary definition of “immediately” applied to IT workflows, especially when referring to releases of new software integrations, would almost always result in: “Generous wrote: Why is my site down?! Get it up immediately! Here is the dictionary definition of the word.”.

We would rather take the time to avoid that instead of reading dictionaries.

    Hi @plamenm,

So, what is SiteGround’s definition of “immediately”? One year? Two years?

When do you guys plan to release your updated blog (or new blog) announcing HTTP3/QUIC for your paying customers?

A goal without a plan is simply a wish.

    Thank you!
