Update-safe Modification of .mo and .po Files

First of all: Thank you for your excellent plugin!

Just one question: I need to change some translations and therefore I edited the .po and .mo files. It works perfectly – for now. I expect my modifications to be gone as soon as the plugin gets an update.

The original files are placed in the global language folder /wp-content/languages/plugins

To have them update-safe I am thinking about placing them in /wp-content/languages/plugins/events-manager

What do I need to do that the plugin is loading the language files from the new directory?

Or is there any better way to adjust the wording?
