Update the theme with full width code

I have seen many, many, many users trying to get the twenty-fourteen menu bar to be full width. I have had the most luck with this fix and have used it in many of my sites. So can this be fixed in the main code so that no other users need to spend time patching the CSS? What I have seen so far is that this is a bug since this is supposed to be a “…responsive magazine…” design which it isn’t if it leaves an ugly grey bar on the right side of the screen. If this isn’t a bug or I am totally at fault please ignore this post and let me know. Thanks.
