update to 3.8.3

    If I try to log in to a site that had the auto-update to WP 3.8.3 I am being asked to update the database. If I OK that, it finishes really quickly (less than 2 seconds). If have access to the wp-admin directory blocked for all but my IP through htaccess.

    1. does 3.8.3. need a database update? if yes, what does it do?
    2. does the update of the database function correctly in my htaccess setup? I see no error message, but I am wary because of the quick finish.

  • I’m not entirely sure if updating to 3.8.3 will always require a database update, but whenever this message appears and the database is updated, it only takes a second or two indeed, which is perfectly normal.
