• When I try to update in WordPress from 3.8.1 to 3.8.3 I get:

Warning: md5_file(/[snip]/[snip]/public_html/wp-cron.php) [function.md5-file]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /[snip]/[snip]/public_html/wp-admin/includes/update-core.php on line 756

The update cannot be installed because we will be unable to copy some files. This is usually due to inconsistent file permissions.: wp-cron.php

    Installation Failed

When I check in ftp the permissions of wp-cron it supposedly is 000 while it should be 644 of course. I can’t edit it back to 644, as it gives a ‘no permission’ error back. Of course I’m logged in with the admin ftp account.

Is this a WordPress failure or a host problem?
    Thank you.

The same issue happens when updating to 3.9:

Warning: md5_file(/home1/emil/public_html/wp-cron.php) [function.md5-file]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home1/emil/public_html/wp-admin/includes/update-core.php on line 832
