I updated to 4.1.2 The entire site got garbled. It looks like all pages turned into posts. Content is all over the place and lots is missing.

I restored the backup I made before updating. (Updraft) Site is working for viewing but I can’t log in to admin. It just redirects me to:
    https://compactdrums.com/wp-admin/upgrade.php?_wp_http_referer=%2Fwp-admin%2Foptions.php

If I update the database I get three errors but update completes and I can get into admin, but then the site is garbled again.

I tried changing version.php back to 4.1.1 this made no difference.

    Please help!

    Thank you!

It just got worse. I attempted to re-install 4.1.2 Now my site is gone. When i Attempt to view it:

The website cannot display the page

    HTTP 500

When I attemptt to log in to admin:
One or more database tables are unavailable. The database may need to be repaired.

I tried repairing. Made no difference…

Same thing has happened to me — only one of the many websites I manage shows no more pages and it relied on a homepage built on a Page. I looked at the database and compared the backup to the current and definitely could see where it said “page” or “portfolio” all says “post” now :/

Looks like you may need to reinstall WordPress completely and reload your Updraft backup and avoid updating the database (when you attempt the dashboard) till there’s a clue what is going on!

I would really prefer not to have to attempt that. My host is looking into if they can fix it for me. Fingers crossed.

My hosting provider (1&1) managed to repair the database and revert back to 4.1.1. They also advised me to avoid 4.1.2 and rather wait for 4.1.

I won’t ever be updating in a hurry again but rather every time there’s an update, I will first check here to see what kinda’ success rates people are having.

Strange advice from your hosting provider: since this was a security update, reverting back to the insecure version does not seem the way to go…just sayin’..

I had the same problem (too many posts on my site) and apparently the database update timed out because of php execution timeout limits.

The thing is that i have a dedicated server, and I can edit the php settings. If you have shared hosting this may be a problem.

    Here’s the fix:

Through cpanel/php configuration editor or in php.ini change these lines:

    max_execution_time from 30 to 150 or more
    max_input_time from 60 to 300 or more

Go to your site and press the button to update the database again

    This fixed it for me.
