  • Hey @teqtoo,
If you are having trouble updating wordpress automatically then you can try updating it manually. You just need to download the latest version of wordpress from www.ads-software.com and change the file following steps mentioned below:

    1. After getting latest version of wordpress copy the wp-content and wp-config.php which contains your site data and your database information.

    2. Delete all the files in wordpress and paste the latest version files.

    3. Replace wp-content and wp-config.php file with the old one which you copied and saved.

    4. Nothing more, Your wordpress is updated!

    Thank You,
    Regards,
    Srawan.

Is it better to download the wp-content and wp-config.php files via ftp to my computer before installing the update? Or to make a copy of those on the server? Or both?

    Hey @teqtoo,
You can continue with any of these two options. Your only aim is not lose the wp-content & wp-config.php file beacause losing any of these file will destroy your site. So, you can go forward with any option you feel comfortable with.

    Thank You,
    Srawan.
