• I have Theme twenty fourteen 2.9. After the update to WP 5.5. I can not go to the code. On the right site you have VISUAL and TEXT. When I click on TEXT nothing happens. Also I do not see the auto update at the plugins. I also removed the caches and the cookies and so on.

  • I have the same problem. As well, I cannot change my featured content, as none of the tags are showing in the editor.

You both must have a plugin conflict. I also use theme 2014 and have updated to WP 5.5 and don’t have these problems.

@willibrord Are you using Fourteen Extended? I believe that is what is causing the problem in my case. I wonder what my options are. How can I save those customizations another way. Let me know if you are using this too.

You must install jQuery Migrate Helper. This plugin repairs some of the problems. I’m changing to another more recent theme.

Interesting. I just installed jQuery Migrate Helper. Thanks for the tip! I re-enabled the fourteen extended plug-in afterwards, and it still renders my editor unusable. I have been thinking of changing to another magazine theme ever since this latest WordPress update.

I also ran into an issue with this theme as of yesterday. I use it on both my PiercingMetal.com and on PiercingKen.com to keep the sites related visually. Yesterday after noticing some plugin updates to Jetpack, I noticed that four of my Widgets were no longer in the places I assigned them on PiercingMetal.com – They still “lived” on the PK site so I went into the Live Preview to fix the dilemma only to find that said widgets were no longer there.

I’m stumped as I was using simple ones of Social Follows, the list of popular posts and a Twitter feed. Nothing really crazy. If anyone has ideas I’d love to hear what you think.

Your widgets are still there somewhere. In Firefox, I cannot centre the theme by altering the CSS, since I have not reactivated the problem plugin, and in Chrome, it’s centred, but my sidebar along with the widgets have vanished. I need to do some more digging to figure out how to get this fixed. Mobile is fine, showing all-maybe check your site on there. The left sidebar will show after the rest of the content. I am sad about featured content missing, because that was one of my main attractions to this theme. Probably time for a facelift anyway, but not an ideal time for me to revamp my entire site. Bleh.
