Update to 6.6 – Bug__Gutenberg not working

This may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.

If you can install plugins, install and activate “Health Check”: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/health-check/
It will add some additional features under the menu item under Tools > Site Health.
On its troubleshooting tab, you can Enable Troubleshooting Mode. This will disable all plugins, switch to a standard WordPress theme (if available), allow you to turn your plugins on and off and switch between themes, without affecting normal visitors to your site. This allows you to test for various compatibility issues.

We have this issue on several sites! It’s also breaking the sidebar in the Gutenberg editor.

Rolling back fixes the issue.

wp core update –version=6.5.5 –force

The issue on our sites was related to this plugin https://en-au.www.ads-software.com/plugins/resizable-editor-sidebar/

In that case, I recommend reporting the issue at https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/resizable-editor-sidebar/ so the plugin’s developers and support community can help you with this.

I ran into the same error and I do not have the previously mentioned plugin installed. When I take a page for editing and switch to a mobile/tablet view, the editor mysteriously disappears. When I switch back to the desktop view, I can edit normally again. The same behavior happens on multiple sites after upgrading to version 6.6.

Same issue, as @mraassin. Turned out to be the Yoast SEO plugin for me, tablet and mobile views work as they should with the plugin disabled. I posted in the Yoast SEO forum: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/tablet-mobile-view-in-block-editor-disappears-wp-6-6/#new-topic-0.

gutentor editor doesn’t work with wordpress 6.6 properly, backround images and colors are not published and in the backend its only possible to “save” , the update button doesn’t show up anymore
downgrade to 6.5 helped, but is no option for future

Installing a site on Local and with absolutely zero plugins and running the Twenty-Twenty-Four theme, Here is what happens when clicking on –
Editor – does not open at all.
Navigation – does not open at all.
Styles – does not open at all but background colors change.
Pages – Lists pages with secondary screen still doing nothing, if a page is clicked, it will take you to the Gutenberg editor screen.
Templates – shows lists of templates, clicking on them opens Gutenberg but you cannot click the checkbox below them.
Patterns – shows lists of patterns, but you cannot click the checkboxes under them individually.
After a reinstall of WordPress, it appears that the editor starts working as it should. But you still cannot check the checkboxes underneath the Templates or Patterns. Hope this helps someone and/or the WordPress team out.
