• After the recent update, I started getting http 500 errors whenever I tried loading my site. Couldn’t access wordpress dashboard. I tried deactivating the plugin by renaming the w3-total-cache folder, which worked momentarily and I thought it fixed it. But after a few successful loads the error is still happening.

On some attempts to load the site I would get this message:

W3 Total Cache Error: some files appear to be missing or out of place. Please re-install plugin or remove […]advanced-cache.php. W3 Total Cache Error: some files appear to be missing or out of place. Please re-install plugin or remove […]db.php W3 Total Cache Error: some files appear to be missing or out of place. Please re-install plugin or remove […]object-cache.php.

So I deleted the entire plugin folder and it didn’t make a difference. I am still getting error 500. Once in a while I get bad gateway timeout.

What else can I do now that I’ve deleted the plugin?

  • Go into the cache folder in the wp-content folder and delete it and then make sure that those drop-in files are also removed.

    Same issue yesterday for me

    I also had to remove

    object-cache.php
    db.php
    advanced-cache.php

from the root level of the wordpress plugins directory.

Then I was able to get into my dashboard again

    Hope it helps

    Thanks for the quick response.

Ok, I have deleted the wp-content/cache and object-cache.php, db.php, and advanced-cache.php from wp-content and still cannot access the site from any device or browser. (I also deleted W3TC config folder after that and no change).

    Any other ideas?
