    …apparently isn’t up to date?

    Error message:

You cannot upgrade because WordPress 3.0.4 requires MySQL version 4.1.2 or higher. You are running version 4.0.27.

Is this possible? 1&1.com was, I thought, pretty “industry-standard”.

Did I miss something here? Is there an older update I should be doing?

  • the above looks good, BTW 1&1 can be pain.

Hmmm…if that looks good, why is the database of my old posts (newly converted to a MySQL 5.0 database format) not showing the old posts in my blog.

My blog (at https://www.jerrypettit.com/blog) is just showing 1 post–that I have put there today to explain that I am having upgrade problems.

Where are the old posts, if it is looking like the MySQL conversion worked?!

You have the backup right? if so, create new database, go to phpMyAdmin and import this again.

Oh one more thing, when you are in phpMyAdmin you can click on wp_posts and check what’s inside, this is for future references to know if all is in.

Ah…looked in wp_posts and indeed the transfer of the old database did NOT successfully take place.

Getting late and my mind is fuzzy. I’ll try again tomorrow from scratch, I guess.

    Jerry:

Does 1&1 provide WP installed or did you have to install it yourself on their servers?

    Thanks so much.

I had to install it myself.
