updated geo-location DB, now less useful

    A couple days ago I updated the DB and now the log has less meaningful results. What appear to be humans are not color-coded as such, locations that once resolved are now unknown.

    Why is this?

    The stats are not accurate either. 3 visitors from 3 different countries are shown as 1 visitor on the WP.com stats page. This used to be accurate prior to updating the DB.

    WP SlimStat relies on a geolocation service called MaxMind:

    https://www.maxmind.com/en/home

    They’ve been quite reliable in the past few years, but things might be changing, since they are now moving towards a different business model. If you’re not satisfied with the level of accuracy offered by the free version, you can always purchase the paid version on their website ??

    Then you can import it into your database and let WP SlimStat use the new information to geolocate your visitors.
