Updated Jetpack and Crashed Site

WordPress said Jetpack needed updating, so I clicked the check box and hit “Update Plugins”.
It was taking forerver, s I opened a new window, went to my site, and it had a blank white screen that said it was undergoing maintenance. In my root files on my server, the wp-content folder disappeared, leaving only wp-contents. Inside it, I found a copy of wp-content and copied it into the root directory, but it didn’t change anything.
