• Updated to version 3.1.4, and now the coding I used to insert thumbnails, etc. is not visible on my dashboard. I have no clue what to do. My posts no longer show a thumbnail on the front page. Rather disastrous, since I have a magazine layout.

    Suggestions?

    Thank you!

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    TY for responding!

Yes, have deactivated plugins and then reactivated them

I do not know what the Twenty Ten theme is . . . ?

I am not sure what you mean by resetting the plugins folder.

My dashboard no longer even shows the instructions for adding a thumbnail . . . and I realized since posting that TimThumb is no longer listed as a plug-in – and shows as being incompatible with updated WP versions. I am wondering if this plug-in is how I was acquiring thumbnail permissions to begin with.

However, I assume since the News theme includes thumbnail options on the front page, that there has to be some other way to include them, other than using a plug-in. ????

I am a writer, not a coder – so be gentle, lol. TY!

The twentyten theme – dashboard, appearance, themes and temporarily activate to rule out theme problems but,

the coding I used to insert thumbnails, etc. is not visible on my dashboard.

Do you mean the upload/insert image icons in add new post? When you insert the image with wp you can choose thumbnail size. You don’t need a plugin.
