I have never had a problem with WordPress until today. I went to update my PHP version to the latest version, then I updated WordPress to version 5. I logged into WordPress to create a new post and got the white page of death. Ok, so I went and followed instructions to download the “classic editor” and it works but now the editing box is white and the font is white and the editor icons (bold, italicize, etc.) are not there and I can’t type anything. Also, the visual composer plugin doesn’t work in the backend anymore. Not sure what happened to my website.

Just to follow up for others who are having the same issue: The php version was too high to support the WP. Try to use a supported version… not the latest. I was using 7.2… downgraded to php 5 and it works like a charm.
