    I just updated the Webcomic plugin and nothing works anymore. And I do mean nothing. Every page of the site (including the WP dashboard) I try to access just gives me this:

    Fatal error: Uncaught exception ‘Exception’ with message ‘Webcomic requires PHP 7 or later.’ in /home/keii4ii/heartofkeol.com/comic/plugins/webcomic/webcomic.php:19 Stack trace: #0 /home/keii4ii/heartofkeol.com/wp-settings.php(305): include_once() #1 /home/keii4ii/heartofkeol.com/wp-config.php(106): require_once(‘/home/keii4ii/h…’) #2 /home/keii4ii/heartofkeol.com/wp-load.php(37): require_once(‘/home/keii4ii/h…’) #3 /home/keii4ii/heartofkeol.com/wp-blog-header.php(13): require_once(‘/home/keii4ii/h…’) #4 /home/keii4ii/heartofkeol.com/index.php(17): require(‘/home/keii4ii/h…’) #5 {main} thrown in /home/keii4ii/heartofkeol.com/comic/plugins/webcomic/webcomic.php on line 19

    Since I can’t access the dashboard I don’t know how I can fix this?

    Apologies for the trouble Keiiii. If you have FTP access to your site, download Webcomic 4.4.1 and upload it to your /wp-content/plugins directory, replacing the existing webcomic folder.

    If you have access to your web host dashboard, you might see if there’s a way to turn PHP 7 on. I’m not sure why WordPress didn’t disable Webcomic 5 when it encountered that error, but switching to PHP 7 should eliminate that error and get Webcomic 5 working.

    Apologies, I should’ve read the error; it looks like you have your plugins in a /comic/plugins directory; you’ll want to put Webcomic 4.4.1 there (replacing the existing webcomic folder).

    Thank you for the quick response! Crisis has been averted for now. I’ll see what kinda things I have access to with regards to my web host.

    The same happens to me.
    I updated and the web gave me a fatal error.

    I had to wait for the login to re-enter. But it does not let me activate the plugin and it gives me this message.

    “Webcomic requires PHP 7 or later.”

    Apologies for the trouble, @artesiramanga. Webcomic 5 does require PHP 7; early releases handled this poorly, but as of Webcomic 5.0.2 you should just see that error when you try to upgrade to or activate Webcomic 5 without at least PHP 7. Most web hosts will let you turn PHP 7 on from your hosting dashboard.

    Sorry for my English but I understood that there will be another version of webcomic that can be used with php7?

    Plugin Author Mike

    (@mgsisk)

    No worries @artesiramanga. Webcomic requires PHP 7 (or greater) starting with Webcomic 5.0.0. Trying to activate or upgrade to Webcomic 5 with an older version of PHP will result in an error.

    I mean my server needs a php7. It is understood. Thank you.

    Sorry @dotproblems, busy week. Could you setup an admin account for me on your site? I think I know what’s wrong, but it’ll be easier to check that way.
