I just updated WordPress and also the Virtue theme, and it disappeared! I had made a child theme of virtue, which still shows as installed, but broken (I assume it’s broken because it cannot find the Virtue theme). So I went to install it again, and when I search Virtue it tells me it’s already installed.

  • Sounds like the updated wasn’t successful with the theme and only partially downloaded it. Or the file was corrupted some how.
You will need to login to your site via ftp and delete the virtue folder so it’s cleared then reupload.

Thanks for the quick response Kadence Themes. I contacted my hosting services provider and they reversed to the previous version. I think it may have had more to do with the WordPress 3.9 update, as some other themes I had installed before I settled on Virtue (you’re the best!) also disappeared. I’m going to wait a bit before I update again.

    Same here with wordpress 3.9
I used the update function and the theme was broken. (style.css missing)
Deleted the Virtue theme by ftp and reinstalled via wordpress.
Now i get the message that the theme cannot be installed because of missing style.css, but the theme installs normally and style.css is there as it should be.

    Weird, but solved
