  • I think the answer is they aren’t…

    They have stated that they are going to provide the legacy extensions for free but without a support or update license. So they are offing to give the functionality back but it doesn’t sound like updates are going to happen unless something else changes in this debacle of an “update” rollout.

    The author should have slowed development on this plugin to security updates and then offered another plugin starting from ground-zero with the limited 7.0 feature set and pro version… Let that plugin succeed or fail on its own.

    But the author appears to want to capitalize on the goodwill of the community that downloaded and highly reviewed the 6.x and previous versions of the plugin (which was a truly amazing plugin).

    I think our only hope is that he realizes that it isn’t too late and he could still turn this around by offering the original feature set for free and creating pro add-ons that complement and not steal from the free version.

    We are looking at a way to modify the updater to only fetch 6.4 based versions. However, if we are able to do this, you would have to at least install that versio n manually.

    @jeff:

    Please excuse my lack of knowledge…

    1. How does one manually install version 6.4.17 ?

    2. Will the current setup/settings of ver. 6.4.16 on my site remain, or will I have to reconfigure everything?

    3. Will this new version remove the update nag/message for ver. 7.x ?

    Thank you

    1. This documentation shows how to install one of our extensions, which is a plugin, so it’s the same process: https://docs.thememylogin.com/article/59-how-do-i-install-an-extension
    2. This is still the 6.4. branch, all will stay the same.
    3. Yes.

    Thanks – I’ve used this method and worked fine (after removing the existing plug-in first).

    Is it required that the existing version of the plugin be removed before installing the new .17 version?

    When I tried to do it I got an error that the plug-in was already installed. I just renamed the folder in the plug-in area (via FTP) and then it worked.

    I made a full site backup before I did it (just to be on the safe side), so I could roll back if needed.

    Thanks for the info/help @djb2002 , @jfarthing84

    Since the update to 6.4.17 my WP Admin shows the red ‘1’ next to Plugins to show an update, but when I go into Plug-ins this disappears and there are no updates (which is correct).

    Is this anything to do with the 6.4.17 Theme My Login update ?

    Thanks

    @djb2002 Yes. You had the update to 7 notification, and 6.4.17 suppressed it.

    Looks like the update has come back for me properly now.

    Be sure that the setting under TML > Settings is checked to stay on the 6.4 branch.

    @jfathing84

    It is – It was before and still is ?
