Updating a Theme

  • I have created two themes that I installed using the upload function, and are network enabled site and are used. How do I update the themes without deleting and re-installing?

    Just update the files. Copy them up via FTP.

    Thanks for the reply. I wonder how the system does it when there’s an update, and you press the update button… the same way?

    Basically. It downloads a new version to wp-content/upgrades/, explodes the zip, deletes the folder wp-content/theme/themename/ and copies the new one over.

    Which is why we tell you not to edit the theme manually, but to make child themes, by the way.
