    Hi there.

I am experiencing an issue where when this plugin is activated, I am unable to update any other plugins. Updating results in a “504 Gateway Time-out” error. When I view the server activity, I can see that the CPU, which normally runs at 10-20% capacity, is maxed at at 100% whenever the system is trying to update. Something in this plugin is causing issues.

If I disable this plugin, I can update other plugins without issue and without a similar CPU spike.

    Any tips?

    Hi,

Are you using the “automatic backup” feature? https://updraftplus.com/shop/autobackup/
i.e. When you update, is an automatic backup running?

Yes, I am using that feature. How do I disable it if that is causing the problem?

    Hi,

OK. The probably cause is that either your ISP or web hosting company has a proxy that requires the page to finish loading within a set amount of time – and that this amount of time is not enough for the backup to complete. You can turn off the feature in the ‘expert’ settings at the bottom of the UpdraftPlus settings tab; or by just de-selecting the checkbox that appears when you make an update.

    Best wishes,
    David

Increasing the PHP Maximum Execution Time to 120 seconds appears to have resolved this. Thanks!
