Updating author on approval means original contributor cannot revise

Hi all,
I have contributors and editors in my WP set up.
When a contributor submits an edit to a published post, and the editor approves it, the author of the post is changed to the editor, rather than staying as the contributor.
Because the editor now owns the post, the contributor can no longer make any updates.
Surely this is an issue that others are having as well?
I’ve found the code (revision-action_rvy.php, line 444) – If you remove ‘post_author’ from the compacted array, it won’t update the author and leave it as the original contributor/editor.
