Updating broke my website – $100 for nothing

Had a very old version of this plugin and paid for a new license to get an update for new features per a request from client. Upon trying to activate new version, got an error message saying activation couldn’t complete and to contact developer for support. It’s now been 6 days with a plug-in that can’t be activated and forms that are missing from my client’s site due to the upgrade, as well as an email chain with dev support that is getting me nowhere. Feel like this plugin was a complete waste of money as well as making my client angry.
