• Hi Everybody,

Quick question I’m hoping somebody can help me with please. I’ve previously been told I should avoid making changes directly to a downloaded WordPress theme, but should create a child theme instead, to avoid any problems with future updates to the theme.

Trouble is I’ve made some changes (big and small) to all of the php files listed below – not just the CSS file – so am wondering if I were to start again from scratch and do it properly by creating a child theme, wouldn’t I have to keep on updating all of these other files each time the original adult theme is updated?

    Template-Tags

I did originally try to create the theme I was after using a framework theme (underscore_s) but failed miserably. Not really sure what to do now.

    Thanks,
    Lance.

  • There is a plugin called Duplicate Theme. Once installed it appears on your WordPress author sidebar. When you create a duplicat child theme it will appear in your themes library where you can activate it.

    Duplicate Theme
Version 0.1.6 | By Muller Digital Inc. | Visit plugin site

Dont have the URL but if you search in the plug ins library it is there.

PS – having lots of bother with www.ads-software.com interface, seems to have bugs galore. In the past I created a website from scratch using raw html/css and some cut/paste javascript. It was a lot easier and more straightforward than this.

Why is WordPress 3.8.1 interface so poor. I understand it can’t be much because it’s free. I don’t object to the bare bones, just that it should do what it say it’s supposed to do.

    Thanks Matilda.

I’ll take a look at the Duplicate Theme plug-in.

    Cheers.
