Updating Child themes

  • Seems like an obvious question but there really isn’t much info out there about updating child themes.

    I have recently started to use child themes and my parent theme automatically updated earlier today. When I take a look at my active child theme in the WP dashboard I can see it was created from an older version of the parent theme.

    Is it good practice for me to now create an updated child theme inline with the updated parent theme or should I just leave this alone?

  • You can probably just leave this alone. You didn’t say which child theme/parent theme you were using, but the main idea of a parent/child theme is so the parent can be updated and the child stays the same with all your customizations? Does this make sense?
