• Hi

When updating recurring events the plugin messes up with my frontpage layout. I have contacted theme author who is helping me debug the issue and he says your plugin is deleting metadata from his plugin. Do you have any pointers on what might be causing this?

Seems to be an issue when recurring event spans 120 days or more. I tried testing different things, see if you can make sense of it

    Hello,

I’d just like to confirm there is indeed a problem with Events Manager deleting metadata of other posts when editing recurring events longer than 120 days.

In my case, all of the metadata on my homepage gets wiped, as well as all metadata on my main homepage slider.

Hope this info might help resolve the problem!

    Hi,

Thanks for your in-depth testing. I’m getting this too, though it seems to be just hitting update – without making a change – also triggers the bug, I’ve let the Dev team know.

Just to let you know that a fix is being worked on. We’ll update this thread as soon as it’s available.

Hi, I’m sorry for the inconvenience. This has already been fixed in the latest dev version, which you can already update to automatically as described here – https://wp-events-plugin.com/documentation/upgrade-dev-version/

We’ll be putting this out in a new update within the next few days.

    Hello,
Adding recuring events also deletes custom fields created with/in Advanced Custom Fields.
I was able to reproduce the behavior, creating a recurring event simply deletes all the fields created in a field group and from the page/post where they should be.

There also seems to be an issue with polylang, since using recurring event (no translation is used for the events), the english (second language, first is nl) homepage of the website i’m working on is displaying the events, events categories, location etc… instead of it’s usual content. the nl homepage works fine

These sounds like they’re all related to the postmeta deleting issue. Have you tried testing with the Dev version?

@netweblogic Thanks, updated to dev version and all seems good now at least on the frontend.

    @en18zone thanks for confirming.

@monesm The issue is with deleting post-meta in general, so any plugin using that will get that data deleted by mistake.

The problem is also only reproduced if you have pages and/or posts with low ID numbers and depending on how many recurrences you’re creating in that one event. For example, two recurrences would delete meta data of post IDs 1 and 2. 100 recurrences would do this from post IDs 1-100.

    Thanks @netweblogic,
The update to the dev version fixed the problem !
