    Hi,

    I was experiencing the “Updating failed” and “Publishing failed” while trying to add/edit a page and finally found the issue affecting my site.

    In case this affects anyone else, I use the All In One WP Security plugin and when enabling the 6G Blacklist firewall protection from perishablepress.com that’s when the issue appears. When I switch to the legacy 5G Blacklist all works properly.

    Wasn’t sure where to post this for the developers.

  • I have the same problem (Updating failed, Publishing failed) with Gutenberg 2.3 on WP 4.9.4, but with no solution. Also with all other plugins deactivated I’m not able to update or publish anything!
    Only a rollback to Gutenberg 2.2 make it work again.

    Same issue since updated to 2.4.0. Not yet a workaround or a 2.4.1 version ? Where can i get back v2.2 ?

    same with my testsite
    latest WordPress 4.9.4
    checked it with php5.1 5.6 7.2
    checked it with IE11 chrome
    cannot save

    In Joomla i was able to find php setting requested and really
    (like the real phpinfo() )
    what are te minimal php version and the maximal php setting?

    who knows the solution??

    Hi,

    To get some debug information you can use the Health Check plugin, in the Debug information tab there’s a copy and pate field that can provide information for us to use to identify what might be blocking your calls.

    I do have a suspicion here though, and would really appreciate it if you could check your JavaScript console for errors when trying to save or publish in Gutenberg when receiving errors? (A guide on how to do this is available at https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Using_Your_Browser_to_Diagnose_JavaScript_Errors#Step_3:_Diagnosis)

    I’m having the same problem with version 3.6.2 of the plugin. Using Chrome’s Developer Conole, no errors are shown when trying to save/update. Notably, the post appears to save (since the changes are subsequently visible after leaving the post editing screen and on the production side of the site).
