Thanks Yogi, I was wondering about automatic but on my site.

Sweated like fury at the thought of having no child theme ready if anything happened to flowerandpalm site.

    Done the wp-config.php

I best crack on tomorrow with a child theme for that site.

    Thanks again Yogi.

Do you have any plugins that are applying the automatic theme update? By default WordPress does not do this.

I best crack on tomorrow with a child theme for that site.

Yes indeed! But I think Andrew is correct that the auto-updates don’t include theme updates even for default themes.

There ought to be a setting, rather than a file edit, to control the auto-update action.
This is very poor service from WordPress.
It’s not unknown for even minor updates to cause problems … and sometime there are a series of minor updates in relatively quick succession. I want to be able to backup first before applying anything which can’t be rolled back, and I want to wait until a product is stable before updating.
Please change this by adding a setting – WordPress developers.

    There is David,

I just looked at another site I have. I clicked update but did’nt go ahead, it said my plugns are up to date.

I saw my themes and they have a box to the left of each theme to update seperate.

I dare not risk going to new version on my flowersandpalms just yet till I have the finished child theme but another site I am willing to risk it.

I can honestly say with auto update I have never had any problems. This is where child themes come into their own, well your own really because they hold your designs.

You can put them into a special folder on the desktop for safe keeping.

    Not much goes into it.
