• I am using a combination of plug-ins to create subscription emails. First I use “Subscribe to Comments” by Mark Jaquith and Word Press Mail Queue to get around the 100 email per hour restriction imposed by my host. I started reading the installation instructions and I don’t want to lose any of my 300+ subscribers by converting and making a mistake. When you say the installation “must follow my permalinks structure”. I am not sure exactly how I would do that (I nave never used Permalinks as an admin or author so I don’t even know what they do).

Here is what I find under the Permalinks tab (where mydomain is the real domain:

    https://www.mydomain.com/%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%postname%

I am also having the problem with IONOS where they keep disabling the permissions my files:
    wp-comments-post.php
    wp-cron.php

This is because they report to me:

    Sender [email protected]
Number of e-mails: 3 Number of delivery attempts: 7 Country of originating IP: 74.208.x.x (US), 174.238.x.x (US) Recipient domain: gmail.com

In order to protect your security and prevent a blacklisting of the servers, we have disabled the e-mail submission service for your contract. Note that you will still be able to receive emails.

Please take the following steps to ensure that your contract is secure.

    1. Did you send the e-mails intentionally?

If so, please check that the software you used is correctly configured and that the recipient e-mail addresses can be reached.

You should also be familiar with and follow our newsletter standards. You can find them in the 1&1 IONOS Help Center:

    https://www.ionos.com/help/index.php?id=2683

Any idea where I might start? THANKS!

P.S. I hate IONOS and want to move but I have a limited budget as a non-profit, non-ad blog and don’t want to pay a high rate for my 300 or so travel blog subscriber audience. Thank you very much.

    Hi @fotonut

Where did you read about the “must follow my permalinks structure”?

If switching from Mark Jaquith’s plugin, make sure that you have a backup just in case something doesn’t go well and you need to revert back. A lot of hosting providers have a backup system in place which you can use.

But if you’re not familiar with backups I strongly suggest you find someone or hire someone who is familiar with it to handle it.

Here is what I am referring to:

    Installation

If you are using Subscribe To Comments by Mark Jaquith, disable it (no need to uninstall it, though)
Upload the entire folder and all the subfolders to your WordPress plugins’ folder. You can also use the downloaded ZIP file to upload it.
    Activate it
Customize the Permalink value under Settings > Subscribe to Comments > Management Page > Management URL. It must reflect your permalinks’ structure

    Hi @fotonut

Oh, that one is unrelated to the move from the Mark Jaquith’s plugin.

It’s for the management page ( where the users who subscribed can manage/remove their subscriptions to specific posts ).

Basically in WP Admin > Settings > Permalinks you need to have any permalink option selected except for the “Plain”.

But the situation with the move from Mark Jaquith’s plugin remains, you should do a backup first just in case.
