Skip regenerating existing correctly sized thumbnails (faster). ON

Delete thumbnail files for old unregistered sizes in order to free up server space. This may result in broken images in your posts and pages. ON

I changed a plugin which removes a couple of sizes and adds a couple of new sizes. They have been shown here

    • 1536×1536:?1536×1536 pixels (proportionally resized to fit inside dimensions)
    • 2048×2048:?2048×2048 pixels (proportionally resized to fit inside dimensions)
    • phone_720x1280:?720×1280 pixels (proportionally resized to fit inside dimensions)
    • tablet_1280x800:?1280×800 pixels (proportionally resized to fit inside dimensions)
    • banner_1920x1200:?1920×1200 pixels (proportionally resized to fit inside dimensions)

But when I run with these options it does not seem to do anything. there used to be an old

    phone_size
    640 × 853

    tablet_size
    768 × 1024

Can they did not get deleted in the batch file mode. However if I go into an individual image I can press regenerate and it will correctly say that there are some new sizes and some old unused sizes

  • I’m glad to hear at least individual images are regenerating correctly! This indicates to me that the plugin is trying to do its job, and can do it well in some circumstances on your site, but something is getting in its way when you try the batch file mode.

I recommend you try the regeneration process again, this time with all plugins deactivated except Regenerate Thumbnails and the plugin that’s made the size changes you’re trying to accommodate. Plugin conflicts are the most common cause of issues like you’re seeing, so this should hopefully allow the plugin to its job for you.

I’ll test it. Another query, litespeed cache creates webp versions of everything uploaded as jpg.

When you Regenerate Thumbnails, does it trigger whatever it needs, to know there’s a new jpg for it to process?

I found out my host has a IO limit of 8mb/s. Would this cause a problem perhaps if the regeneration is running very fast? I would think that once throttled it would simply work slower and not fail but I’m not sure

I’m not too sure I understand what you mean. Could you tell me a bit more about this?

It would depend on how your host implements this limit. I would suspect that everything would run as expected, but would only be able to run at that speed as a maximum. But you would need to reach out to their support team directly to confirm this.
