• I have a parent page in WordPress 5.5.3 that has several children pages protected with this plugin. When I update the parent page, I am noticing that the toggle to protect these children pages toggles to off and I need to manually toggle it back to on each time and re-save. Any idea what might be happening?

  • Hey there,

I have exactly the same issue.
WP 5.6 and newest Plugin Version 1.3.6
Please can the DEV look into this issue? Otherwise the Plugin is barely usable.
    Thank you ??

    Hi @bk2085 and @pslzanders ,
We’re having trouble recreating this although we have a hunch as to what’s happening. We do see the ‘Protect the Children’ toggle turned off after updating a page but the functionality on the front-end still seems to work. It appears it may just be the display of the toggle in the admin area.

Can you confirm if this is the case on your end?

I can confirm that it also incorrectly disables password protection on the children pages too. I confirmed this on multiple sites running this plugin. Depending on caching, the password page may continue to present itself, but as soon as the cache is cleared or you access the page by a proxy browser I can verify that there is no password protection in place on children pages. In WordPress it shows the toggle turned off on the parent page, and it also removes the “Password protected by parent” text next to the children pages.

I came here looking for an answer to this issue, too. We are hosted at GoDaddy Managed WP. We had the plugin working in the test site area, and did not detect this issue, but once we pushed the site to prod, the plugin turns off on its own. For example, I turned it on 4 hours ago, checked now and it’s off. Version 1.3.6 with WP 5.7.2.

EDIT TO ADD: I just verified that when I made an Update to the parent page, Protect the Children toggled off on the parent page, and the children were not protected. When I toggled it back on and updated the parent, the children were again protected.

EDIT TO ADD: I played around with the parent page for a little time. Made an edit. Updated. Watched protect all children toggle itself off. I toggled it back on and updated. It stayed on. I made another change and updated. It toggled off. That is to say, it seems to toggle off after every other update.

Just adding that I see this toggling off when editing as well.

The updated version (1.3.7) is now available and works as expected. Thank you for the patience and feedback.
