• Hello!

I’ve got a huge problem with my fresh install of WordPress 5.2.4. For me it’s not possible to update or save pages that contain any form of links. Pages are saved properly when no Link is contained or all links are removed. But as soon as I add a link via the link-button in the editor or even simply type for example https://google.com in the text box, updating the page always throws an error and does not save.

I tried numerous browsers (Edge, Firefox, Chrome and even Safari on my mobile phone) and it always shows the same behaviour. I reinstalled WordPress and tried all available debugging-methods in the wp_config.php file.

No script errors were thrown in the browser, I disabled all plugins and used a standard 2019 theme. The debug.log does not show anything of interest. To be honest, I don’t know what to do at this point.

When I access the database directly and add the Link code to the content of the Table it shows correctly on the page. When I go into editing mode then it shows the link correctly but if I want to update/save the page then again, it throws the error again.

EDIT: Additional info: When installing the Classic Editor it seems to work, but that’s not the solution for me in this case..

    Best regards

  • Hi,

You state that it throws an error, what is the error that shows when you attempt to save the post/page? I attempted this many times with my site with 5.2.4 and it worked every time, so this is specific to your site and environment. What text is thrown to you when you attempt to save the post/page when the post/page is containing a link? Do you have any mu-plugins on the site?

    Thanks!

    Josh
