• I have been appointed as the person to update this website for my baseball league, but I’m fairly new to sportspress and had some questions regarding updating player stats. The way it is set up right now, it seems that there is a player list that has all the players for the entire league, and a player list for each team that has all the players for that team.

As it is now, I have to update both these player lists to change the stats for one player. Is this the way it is supposed to be? Or is there a better way to do this?

Also in the player lists there is a placeholder value with a number there. I’m not sure where it is getting this value or where to update it. I have looked everywhere for it but could not find it. Is that what I should be updating? or do I update the player stats through player lists?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi!

    Thanks for reaching out!

Would you mind sending us an example of what you mean? I’m not sure how the players list needs to be updated for you to update the player stats

    Kind Regards,

Sorry for the late reply, I’m not even sure if player lists are the correct place to be updating player stats in the first place but it was the only place I could find that would update them on the website.

In this image https://imgur.com/PMwT5Wd there is player lists for each team (containing the players on each team) and then two for each season (containing all the players from each team for the season). I thought I had to update just the seasonal list containing all the players and it would show on the site.

What I found though was that updating the seasonal list only updated player stats on part of the site that had overall standings, while updating the team lists updated other parts of the site. In both these player lists the values have placeholder number that has the players stats but I could not find where it is getting the value from or where to change it.

Is the player lists where i should be updating stats? or is there a different spot that I couldn’t find (the same place it’s getting the placeholder values)?

    Hi!

If you are manually adding the values there keep in mind that future events won’t be affected by them anymore and the automatic calculation won’t work.

The placeholder value may be the values for players with no adjustments, so the values from their events played will be considered for these lists.

One quick way to figure out what is going on is just setting all events as drafts (make sure you have a backup of your site or do that is a test server) so you can see only the data added as adjustments for that player list, then you could set these as zero and adjust just the events values themselves (if you want that).

By events do you mean games? If so I don’t think those were previously used as every single one of them has none of the fields filled in. I did update one and it updated the stats universally which is great, however it updated it with 2x the amount i put in. For example if I enter in 100 home runs for player A for Game 1 and hit update, it shows player A with 200 home runs.
