I’ve just (last night) gotten Postie to work with my product pages for my affiliate marketing site. There’s just one problem: it isn’t deleting the old post … it’s just adding the new post next to the old one. Am I missing a configuration item (not hard to imagine thanks to damage to my brain from my first cancer—I sometimes don’t see everything that’s on the screen in front of me)? Or is it a WordPress configuration option? Everyone (my hosting site and the WordPress general forum) tells me to ask here, so here I am….

The whole idea is updating product pages and posting new product pages via cron (and a bunch of /bin/sh and Tcl scripts, plus ftp, ncftp to be exact, to get the merchant datafeeds) on my Mac without any human intervention.

Any suggestions on what I’m missing, and how to correct it?

    Thanks

Never mind – just figured out a way to make this a moot point. Use WP-CLI to delete a set of posts at a set time (via cron on web server) and one minute later, post same set of updated product posts via Postie. Nothing down for more than roughly 60 seconds.

Issue no longer an issue. ??

Thanks for explaining how you solved this.
