This took me some time to find. When I updated my site on my local development machine, to 6.3, all was well. So I uploaded to a production server, and suddenly, I was missing some CSS. I did all the usual stuff (deactivating plugins, clearing browser cache, etc.) but the problem persisted. I could see that one of the files not downloading was the file that had the navigation/style handler. The <link> tag was not in the head. Upon checking the network tab, I saw that my localhost was downloading 76 assets, while my production server was only downloading 71. Reverting back to 6.2.2 fixed this.

Sorry you’re having this trouble. A couple of questions:

Is https://majorlabel.nl/ the site?

Hope this isn’t too much work but are you able to list all the missing assets?

@adamwood Yes it is. I have a staging environment where I can test this. Let me try and see if I can find the missing assets.

Hello, I have exactly the same problem.

I tried to see if it was the wp-config but no, same for the theme (I tried twenty-twenty three).

And yeah it seems that some core styles/scripts are not called like the wp-includes/blocks/navigation/style.css

There is a core bug for that https://core.trac.www.ads-software.com/ticket/59111

The suggested fix on that thread is:

“Try adding?define( 'WP_DEVELOPMENT_MODE', 'core' );?to your wp-config.php file as a temporary workaround while you’re working on the site.”

Great to know it worked! As this is now a widely reported bug I’d expect a fix in the near future. If you used the define( 'WP_DEVELOPMENT_MODE', 'core' ); temporary fix, remember to try removing this when you upgrade.

Cool, I’ll keep my version locked down on 6.2.2. for now, until a fix is reported
