I just installed Updraft Pro today. I gave it all the settings to upload to my S3 server. The backup engaged, but stored on the local server. Is there a trick I’m missing? I added the keys that it needs for S3 and I tested it. It told me there was a success and that it had dropped a file in the bucket. However, I don’t see a file in the bucket. The backup started automatically, which is what I wanted, but it is storing on my site’s server and not in my S3. How can I fix this?

    Hi,

Please can you provide a link to your log file for the problematic backup? (You can download it from the “Existing Backups” tab of your UpdraftPlus settings page).

It’ll be too long to paste into the forum here, but you can download it to your computer, and share it with Dropbox, or paste it in pastebin.com, or any similar service, and post the link here.

    Best wishes,
    David

There is no information on the “Existing Backups” tab. However, I find files in the updraft directory. I attempted to view the txt files, but can not.

Click on the “Download most recently modified log” link in the main UpdraftPlus tab, and that will show you the most recent log file.

Yes, that worked. How can I get the file to you? I see it here… But I’m unable to pull it up in my browser.

    Hi,

For me to see the log file, you could share it with Dropbox, or paste it in pastebin.com, or any similar service, and post the link here.

    Here is my dropbox link

I also just uninstalled and reinstalled because the folder is still getting this error. Warning: /home/my-client-dir/public_html/wp-content/updraft: The backup directory is not writable – the database backup is expected to shortly fail.

    David,

I’ve made another update and it ‘may’ be working. I wiped all settings and re-entered the settings. The backup shows that it has started but it hasn’t moved much at all. Here is a copy of the current log file. Hopefully, you’ll be able to see what’s going on. I’ll check back later.

    Hi,

The log is consistent with your web hosting account disk space being 100% full (see: https://updraftplus.com/faqs/how-much-free-disk-space-do-i-need-to-create-a-backup/ ). So, check that, and make sure you’ve got enough to create a backup with.

Actually – there was no need for me to speculate. The log was able to capture that data too:

Free disk space in account: 719.3 Mb (64 % used)

As well as getting more disk space one way to reduce the amount used is to reduce the ‘split’ size in the ‘expert’ settings at the bottom of the Settings tab – go down to 50Mb. Zip creation engines all created large temporary files, and reducing the split size reduces this. But whether this will be enough is hard to say. You could also remove any .tmp files from wp-content/updraft as well (otherwise they’ll be cleaned up after 12 or so hours).

Thanks for your help. It looks like you’re saying that there needs to be more disk space. This is something my client will need to approve…for now anyway.
