Hello,

This is my first time trying out UpdraftPlus. I have a local installation of WordPress running in a DesktopServer environment. I’ve configured everything on the Google Drive API side of things and in the plugin settings for UpdraftPlus. However, when the backup runs, it gives this error in the status screen and log file:

Google Drive: Account is not authorized.

Does UpdraftPlus not work with Google Drive when run from a non-public site? I did give the Google Drive API the redirect URI, similar to this:

https://<mylocalsitename>.dev/wp-admin/options-general.php?action=updraftmethod-googledrive-auth

(with <mylocalsitename> replaced with the true name)

DesktopServer has a made up TLD of .dev that points to localhost.

After putting the above into the credentials page of the Google API settings, and waiting a few minutes, I was able to click on the link in the UpdraftPlus settings page to authenticate to Google Drive:

https://<mylocalsitename>.dev/wp-admin/options-general.php?action=updraftmethod-googledrive-auth&page=updraftplus&updraftplus_googleauth=doit

That did return an error initially, but worked after several minutes.

The next time the backup tried to run, it still returned: Account is not authorized.

I’m guessing this might be due to having a non-publicly accessible URL for the local install, but thought I’d ask to be sure.

Thanks,
David

Hi,

Could you try re-authenticating with Google Drive, and send me any errors that you see?
When authenticating, did you see a success message?

I am having the same issue myself. It says my google drive is authenticated, and it started the first backup, but did not finish and now says:
Google Drive: this account is not authorised

Is there an extra step for accounts that have 2 layer authentication turned on?

Any news on this? I have the same issue? How to resolve it?

I have had the same problem and solved by re entering the correct secret key and client ID then saving again. (Do not worry if after saving you will still see a warning in red saying something like “Google Drive not authenticated” or something on those line, that warning is still referring for the previous attempt, when the system tried to make a backup which did not go through as you might have had the wrong credentials.

Now, after saving, run a new backup and if your new credentials are the correct ones you will see that the backup will start as normal and whenever is completed the red warning will change into a green saying something like “Last backup job run: [date and time]”.

Also please remember that you can use a set of credentials only for one project, so if you want to backup multiple WP into your Drive you will have to create a fresh new API for each of the sites.

Good luck
