UpdraftPlus just dissapeared!

    I had UpdraftPlus installed on my website and I was using it for backups and one day it just disappeared from my plugins. When I go to reinstall it I receive the following error message:

    Warning: copy(/home/claire16/public_html/darshanabeauty.com/wp-content/plugins/updraftplus/options.php) [function.copy]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/claire16/public_html/darshanabeauty.com/wp-admin/includes/class-wp-filesystem-direct.php on line 200

    Could not copy file. /home/claire16/public_html/darshanabeauty.com/wp-content/plugins/updraftplus/options.php

    Plugin install failed

    Any ideas on how to fix?

    Hi,

    That’s rather worrying! UD doesn’t have any code to make itself vanish (that would be rather weird code to have). You should try to investigate how that has happened. Does anyone else have admin access to your site? Did your web hosting company take violent exception to UD’s existence and remove it?

    The error on re-installing is a file permissions issue in your WP install. Again, that’s something to ask your web hosting company about. (At the point the error is showing, UD has not yet been installed by the WP installer, so it’s more a WP/hosting issue than a UD issue).

    My web host said to delete the folder on the server and re-add the plugin. That worked!

    Hi Darius,

    Glad you got it fixed! It’s still rather worrying that a folder on your website could disappear – I’d at least change my passwords, if nothing else.
