  • I agree that as a developer you must have gain your work.

    It is correct that when the term expires, you do not grant premium support, what is not valid is that the updates can not be installed.

    What happens when you correct an error of your add-on?

    Expired licenses can no longer correct your error, even if this error is not intended.

    Most add-ons allow the installation of updates after the license expires.

    You should evaluate this situation, the economic part is not indispensable, there are other factors.

    Believe me, it’s not because of the value of the renovation, I also have clients.

    Hi there,

    If our premium plugin ever encounters a major bug that causes issues with old versions, we will provide a patch/update to those who have expired licenses. Leaving our users in the dark if something in our plugin breaks is not something we’ll ever do, even if they haven’t renewed their license.

    Most add-ons allow the installation of updates after the license expires.

    I haven’t seen this very often (at all?), as this means the user will continue to receive new features even if they don’t renew. It would defeat the purpose of renewals and essentially make the license “lifetime”. This is actually a drawback of the plugin we use to offer updates, as there’s no way to differentiate between bug fix updates and new feature updates. It would be awesome if that was possible – maybe I’ll bring it up with Easy Digital Downloads (how we serve updates).

    I actually agree with your point of view. If there’s a major bug in a previous version, we will release the update for all users, regardless of license status. We owe that to our users ??
