• My blog Specious Argument is located at:

    https://www.speciousargument.com/blog/

When I upgraded from 3.8.1 to 3.8.2, I got an error message at the end of the process:

    Not Found

The requested URL /wp-admin/about.php was not found on this server.

My guess is that the installation was looking one directory up. That is, rather than looking at speciousargument.com/blog/wp-admin/ (correct), it looked at speciousargument.com/wp-admin/ (incorrect). According to my history panel in Firefox, that appears to be what has happened.

    Can you please confirm?

That is most likely the case. Settings are not correct and hence the issue. You can correct this by following the steps mentioned here

Previous upgrade from 8.0 to 8.1 worked fine.

I don’t want to move my blog from its blog directory to the root directory, which is what your link suggests. As far as I know, my settings are correct. However, I suspect that there’s a glitch in the installation process.

Moreover, my about.php file is correct for the new version 3.8.2. So it knew where to install the latest version of the file (yes, it was changed with 3.8.2), but didn’t know where to call it at the end of the process.

    I think there’s a bug.

Are you using Cloudflare on your site?

    Thank you for replying.

The plugins that I am using are as follows:

    • Akismet
    • Jetpack by WordPress.com
    • VaultPress
    • Wordfence Security

I am also using Thesis 2.1 theme.

    I am not using Cloudflare.

Fortunately, my blog seems to be functioning fine. It’s just during the installation process I was greeted by an abrupt and unfortunate error message.

The only time I have encountered this error is on sites using Cloudflare. I assume that redirected url post-upgrade isn’t working correctly when passed through Clouflare. It might be worth asking your hosts if they are running anything similar on your server.

    Thank you. I will follow-up.

I hope that when WP 4 is released, I don’t have the same issue.
