• I am hosting our WP site on an in-house Mac Mini running OS10.8.5. I would like to upgrade the server to 10.9.5 but am uncertain if this will update any of the core programs used (i.e., mysql, etc) and break the functionality of the site.

    If it is useful the site in question is at:

    https://www.avmi.net

    Thanks
    Mike

  • Your OS should have no effect on what version of PHP , SQL etc is installed.

    @evan Herman saud

    Your OS should have no effect on what version of PHP , SQL etc is installed.

    Wrong. It very well could.

    @mrbroome: it’s a good idea to read the docs for the different versions of OS X Server to see what is installed by default.

    OS X won’t install bleeding edge versions of PHP, etc., and WordPress should very well be compatible with any version of PHP, MySQL installed by default or as packages from other port managers Fink or Macports, such as. But check and see.

    There is a huge difference between your servers OS and your computers OS.

    I misread the original question and thought he was referring to the computer OS…silly mistake on my behalf indeed.
