• Hi,
First of all I have tried searching on these forums but haven’t found anything relevant yet.
I was upgrading from 2.0.3 to 2.0.4 and I deleted wp-content by mistake.
I didn’t delete other files like robots.txt, .htaccess and wp-config.php. Also, the database is still intact. Is there anything I can do to restore the Blog? Is any information from wp-content stored in the database?
I have asked my host to restore the wp-content folder but looks like that it may take few days.

    Thanks all.

  • If you haven’t customized your theme, then nothing is lost, simply upload the wp-content from the download, and upload the theme you were using. If you did customize the theme you were using, you’ll have to either re-modify the theme, or wait for your host to give you an archive of your post.

THough hindsight is 20/20, this is a perfect example of why reading and following all the upgrade instructions are important. They always state to backup the entire site, including the database BEFORE upgrading.

    Thanks for your reply.
The folder’s have been backed up now and the site is back to normal.I did have the database backed up which I deleted. Also by mistake I deleted my whole Photo Gallery (don’t know what was I smoking lol!). Thanks for the information.
The wp-content folder has been backed up and now the site seems to be working however according to the instructions at https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Upgrading_WordPress#Upgrade_2.0.3_to_2.0.4
it should ask me to upgrade the database once i logon as admin after the upgrade, which it didn’t. I don’t know what’s wrong. My site however says that it is 2.0.4 (Look at the very bottom of the page).
I don’t know what’s going on. I also had that Maintenance Mode Plugin activated before I did the upgrade. I am not sure if that made any difference.
Edit. I manually tried the /wp-admin/upgrade.php link and it went fine. So I hope it has been upgraded.
