I have gone through the installation process to upgrade from 2.5.1 to 2.7.

When I try to log in to my site admin to upgrade, I get the following message:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: wp_remote_request() in /home/ipwarsco/public_html/wp-includes/update.php on line 58

If I hit refresh, I get this:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: wp_remote_post() in /home/ipwarsco/public_html/wp-includes/cron.php on line 201

I tried manually typing in <https://ipwars.com/wp-admin/upgrade.php>. After refreshing twice, it ran the upgrade process and said my site was already upgraded. However, if I try to go to the site or run upgrade, I now get the same to fatal errors.

I have tried deleting the wp-admin and wp-includes files on my host and reinstalling.

    Site is hosted on site.5.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

  • I’d first consider deleting the WordPress files, then reupload, per Steps 7 and 8 in Upgrading_WordPress_Extended.

Uploading WordPress to a remote host Note: make sure you use ASCII file transfer mode

I’ve tried steps 7 and 8 now 3 more times with no change in result.

I can clarify however that the error “on line 201” in fact comes up before, not after, the error “on line 58”.

The permissions on both wp-config.php and wp-cron.php are set to -rwxr-xr-x

    OK.

I seem to have sorted it out by a different route. It turns out that my hosting service – site.5 – has a fantastico script to upgrade, which seems to have done the trick.

    Many nightmares now avoided!

    Thanks for your efforts!
