I’ve just updated to 3 and I can’t get into Edit Pages or Add Pages. The message I get is:

The requested URL /wp-admin/edit-pages.php was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

My website is still available on the web but I’m unable to update my site.

    Any solutions available?

  • I’m having the same type of issue as Thumper 70 that all I have is a blank screen. I do not have a 404 Message. I cannot access my Control Panel etc.

Via FTP I changed my plugins folder to plugins.hold and made a new (empty) folder and named it plugins. I still get the same result a blank screen (but no 404 or any other type of error message.)

I cannot access the WP-Admin sign in page (blank page). I cannot access the dashboard in wordpress etc.

Any and all help is deeply appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!

Had the same problem after installing a Plug in then removing it. Even Removed the Plug in from my C-Panel (FTP) and it started giving me those funny messages.
So I added a little line in my Htacess code:
    AddType x-mapp-php5 .php
strange everything went back to normal.
    I use 1 & 1 hosting.

Back to the original post in this thread, I get a 404 error when I click on Edit or Add Page, address /wp-admin/edit-pages.php. I looked in my wp-admin folder and there is no file called “edit-pages.php”. Interesting… So I download a brand spanking new 3.01 and look in that wp-admin folder and there is no “edit-pages.php” there either! What gives? That is reallllly sloppy. Either the link in the menu is incorrect or WordPress has released an incomplete set of files with 3.0.1.

I’m going to try to upload that file from my 2.9.2, see if that works.

But can anyone from WordPress respond to this? There are a lot of different threads about it.

semidivine, the link should actually be going to /wp-admin/post.php?post=2&action=edit (where post=2 changes depending on the post or page ID, it’s actually post= whether it’s a post or page), so I think that something else is wrong here.

Try deactivating all plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can affect the admin panel).

And, if neither of those resolve the issue, try downloading WordPress again and delete then replace your copies of everything except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download.

If you need further assistance, please start your own topic.

I had the same problem, and discovered the solution was an old copy of menu.php that I carefully replaced in /wp-admin after each update because it had links to two custom processes that were created for me that didn’t use a plug-in.

Apparently something changed in one of the versions, perhaps the way pages are found as james describes above. So my carefully saved old page didn’t work like the new one, and my pages list and editing disappeared—no surprise that.

Now I simply paste the two lines that reference my processes into the new menu.php code and everything works fine.

Yeah, I know. I will have it plugin-ized one of these days.

Deleting the ‘Google Analytics Dashboard’ plugin by Carson McDonald eventually resolved this issue for me.
