• I just tried upgrading my blog to WordPress 3.4, which failed and I got a bunch of errors.
Now I tried restoring the backup I was able to automtically make before going through with the upgrade.

This backup however won’t work, then I get the following message:

Restoring Backup: Error: extraction failure: unable to extract /usr/home/deb23751/application_backups/c13e156c0b984e13a8f4162aced606b1.tar.gz' to/usr/home/deb23751/domains/vivaglamx3.be/public_html’ (`265121792′): Directory /usr/home/deb23751/domains/vivaglamx3.be/public_html/wp-content/uploads/2009 already exists as a file

None of my picutes show on my blog and linkwithin won’t work properly either.

Can somebody please help, I’m pretty frustrated since this has been going on the entire day. You can see the problem on my blog here: https://www.vivaglamx3.be/

I’ve already tried deactivating the plugins and all that, but it won’t work..

Thanks so much if you’re able to help!

If i do that, i get ‘already exists’:

    RNFR 6
Antwoord: 350 File or directory exists, ready for destination name
    Commando: RNTO 06
    Antwoord: 550 Rename 06: Not a directory

If it already exists, upload it there.

i did that, but still nothing. the uploaded picture is now in the wp-content/uploads/2012.backup.07…/06, cuz that’s the only place I have and can place a 06 folder apparently

I think you are doing it the wrong way. The backups are at another place. They have photos. We want the photos where you found 0 photos.

You can try another thing. Download all the backed up photos. Delete all the ones in uploads with 0 photos. And move or upload (FileZilla) to the place where empty 06 etc you found. Then only your photos will appear in your blog.

    1. Download all the backed up files.
    2. Practice, understand and place the photos where they should be.
    3. Here is a hard option (the last resort): Go to posts in your dashboard, delete the HTML for images, and upload the proper photo. Do it only if everything else fails. Sorry to say FAIL, because, you can safely do it by any one of the methods I suggested.
    Just try.

    Ohhhhh my, it worked!!

Thank you so so much for all of your time and effort, I really appreciate it, you just saved everything ??

Great! I think now you understand it. Can you easily place all the photos? I am very happy that you could learn.

Yes, all the photos are back up, I’m scheduling a new article for tomorrow, but it should be fine I guess for the photos to appear..

The only small think is that the Linkwithin plugin seems to work partially, it doesn’t show all the pictures of the featured posts and sometimes it’s just the title of the article, with no frame and pic..

This is something to do with the plugin itself you think?

Thanks, I did learn a lot today, wish I could do somehting in return though!

    Yes, about plugins:
Almost all the plugins are updated now. Look for updates. If available, use the new ones only in place of the old ones. Now I think that is the only thing remaining. Is n’t it?

Hmm, as I’m uploading photos for tomorrows article it won’t allow me to, I get this notice:

Warning: copy(/usr/home/deb23751/domains/vivaglamx3.be/public_html/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/DSC_0044.jpg) [function.copy]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /usr/home/deb23751/domains/vivaglamx3.be/public_html/wp-admin/includes/file.php on line 348
    3441

Not entirely solved yet I’m afraid..

Try to upload through your dashboard. Possibly there is another photo with the same name in the folder. Or, try to upload the photo with a different name.

All right, I’ll try that. I’m doing the same now for the pics of 2010 and 2011 through Filezilla.

For 2011 however I only had a backup folder, is it okay for me to create a “2011 folder” under uploads and just drag everything from the wp-content/upload/2011.backup.07… to the new wp-content/upload/2011 folder I just created?

    (@laura-a)

as for inserting new pics: changing the name doesn’t help. How do I upload photos from my dashboard and how will I get them in the post afterwards?

Will the insert/edit image function not work anymore as before?

@laura A. Just reading this post gave me a headache. You might find it easier to post this in the job section and offer some cash for the fix. To be honest, the way you are going this blog will never be up.

    https://jobs.wordpress.net/

On the dash board, there is a media icon. Just click it and upload.
For other years, you repeat the same process you followed for 2012.
By the way, which company hosts your blog?
