3.3.2 was working like a charm, I upgraded to 3.4 via the backend today and now I can’t access wp-admin.

Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_is_mobile() in /home/content/n/i/n/ninatorres/html/miamiriverartfair.com/wp-admin/index.php on line 22

I disabled my plugins through FTP and did the php.ini fix mentioned in the forums, but to no avail.

Any fix for this? Or a way to roll-back to 3.3.2?

    Cheers!

  • Try:
    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.

    – running the upgrade manually via wp-admin/upgrade.php

Cheers esmi, will try this right away. I do want to note however, site is working perfectly fine. ??

Just having trouble getting into the back end.

Thanks for the quick response! Going through your steps as we speak.

    Cheers!

Then it ain’t working as it should. ?? Odds are that it’s a bad theme or plugin.

Haha, point taken. What I meant to say was fronted seems fine, the website seems to be running the same as before the update.

Did steps 1 & 2, re-uploading everything from the fresh download in the repository except for the wp-content folder, fingers crossed!

Okay, did Step 3 and now I am greeted with the following message when i got to /wp-admin:

    Database Update Required

WordPress has been updated! Before we send you on your way, we have to update your database to the newest version.

The update process may take a little while, so please be patient.

    “Update WordPress Database”

Do I go ahead and do this? Only reason I’m so apprehensive is because, well frankly this is scary. ?? haha.

I have my sql database back up sitting on my desktop, will I need that for the next steps after clicking that button.

Cheers esmi, thanks for your time and for making this process so much less scary.

Do I go ahead and do this?

Yes. If you made a database backup before you began the upgrade process, it’s not too hard to put your site together again in the case of a rare meltdown but now that you have started the process, you need to see it through to the end.

I had the art fair director behind me and didn’t want to click that button and watch the website explode. ;p I went ahead and clicked it and it instantly updated and redirected me to a working /wp-admin page.

Step 3 worked like a charm! Thank you esmi!

    gg!

Only a cosmetic question now: There is a yellow banner at the top of every page in /wp-admin that says: An automated WordPress update has failed to complete – please attempt the update again now.

    I’m guessing it’s thinking I haven’t updated to 3.4.

    Any thoughts? Thanks again!

I had the art fair director behind me and didn’t want to click that button

No fair! Next time, make the art director click on it. ??

A quick scan of your site suggest that you have been upgraded but it would seem that something relatively minor was left unchanged. Hence the warning. Can you try:

    1. Deactivating all plugins.
    2. Switching to the Twenty Eleven theme.
    3. Re-running the upgrade via dashboard-> Update->Re-install.

Had the same issue and this fixed it. Thanks!

i also have the same issue!!

Same issue here. All of a sudden. Changed to twenty-eleven and I can get in.

    1. Deactivated plugins – didn’t work
    2. Switched to 2011 – works
    3. Re-ran upgrade via dashboard – works
    4. Re-activated theme – doesn’t work

    Also tried this:
    1. Switched theme to 2011 works
    2. Logged in
    3. Switched theme back without logging out. Admin modules seem to be working just fine.
    4. Tried to logout – freezes up

Seems to be something in the login.php hanging things up.

Upgrade to WP 3.4 crashed site – no backup
    https://PanzaPath.org
    Using Arras 1.5.2
Not able to access https://www.panzapath.org/wp-admin/ either
Don’t know anything about FTP – a newbie
Can I “undo” the upgrade to fall back to the previous version of WP?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Cheers esmi, I’ll do the cosmetic fix (3.4 upgrade notification) sometime next week. I am swamped with work and I haven’t gotten around to doing it.

I see a lot of people are having the same issue. Try esmi’s suggestions (#3 worked for me). If you need help with FTP or are new to it, download Filezilla and read this: https://wiki.filezilla-project.org/Using

I hope that helps! If you are still stuck, just make a new thread so mods can help you directly. I am going to mark my issue as resolved.

    Take care all!
