Upgrade to 3.5 – Dashboard only showing Posts, Comments, Profile, Tools

I’ve upgraded my site to 3.5 and many menu options are missing from the Dashboard. The plug-ins are in the directories. I’ve deactivated the plugins, but that didn’t change the dashboard. I’m using Wordsmith Anvil as a theme – I don’t know how to reset the default theme to twenty-twelve without deleting my current theme and I don’t have the Appearance menu option.

The site looks fine. It’s the dashboard that is incomplete. I’m somewhat technical, but no expert. Thanks in advance for your help.
