After upgrading, which seems to have hung on “Copying the required files…”, I can’t access the admin space. Each attempt results in a ‘fatal error’ of some kind:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_preview_post_link() in /homepages/19/d222588447/htdocs/….

Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_removable_query_args() in /homepages/19/d222588447/htdocs/….

Don’t know if it helps, but the system was “Downloading update from https://downloads.www.ads-software.com/release/wordpress-4.4.1-new-bundled.zip…”

How can I get my site back?

Try downloading WordPress again, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, and delete then replace your copies of everything on the server except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings.

Some uploaders tend to be unreliable when overwriting files, so don’t forget to delete the original files before replacing them.

Thanks James, that seems to have done the trick!
